ATAX - West New York, NJ

"I been using Atax for the past 5 years and never had an issue until now. My 2024 tax return was done by Arturo M as my annual accountant was sick. I agreed and gave permission to AM to handle paying for all of my owned taxes via call and email, based on total he calculated - including federal, NJ and any other taxes. Few weeks ago I received letter from department of taxation that my NJ state tax was not paid, so I contacted Atax and didn't get any response for a week. After I found a number that worked he promised me to look into it and see if there was a mistake we could fix it. About a week later he briefly called me saying that I need to pay for it- as he was about to hang on the call without any further explanation. He mentioned not remembering our agreement to have him handle all of the owed tax payment transfers (which every accountant I ever worked with handled). On top of that, I realized he didn't even look into my case until I asked him questions on the spot. He had no empathy and did not try to help or at least apologize for not handling it. This honestly left me feeling disappointed. I'm still going to use Atax services as I have many more positive experiences, but definitely not with him"

"Their contractor stole $600 from us and never bothered to even file the tax forms for my late father-in-law. When we followed up, she had apparently fled the country with several people's money. While ATAX (specifically someone named Arturo and Alberto, the ATAX CEO) said they would make it right, they took our estate's tax and legal documents and then ghosted us. The branch refuses to respond to emails, and keeps trying to avoid any responsibility. Sorry folks - your hire, your fault. The head of ATAX refuses to respond. Customer service refuses to respond. The location appears shuttered. Effectively, they stole our tax documents. As mentioned, when we tried to visit the branch, it appeared completely shuttered. Where are our tax forms? Who knows? ATAX certainly isn't making any moves to find out. Avoid at all costs."

They really dug into my taxes and informed me what were the best options. I was a little skeptical at first because they were asking me some tough questions that I didn't understand.
